- DFSA (Dubai Financial Services Authority)
- The independent regulator of financial services conducted in or from the DIFC.
- DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre)
- The leading financial hub in the MEASA region, based in Dubai.
- Fatwa
- A legal pronouncement in Islam, issued by an expert in religious law. In finance, it certifies a product as Shariah-compliant.
- Murabaha
- An Islamic financing structure where the seller and buyer agree to the cost and markup of an asset.
- SCA (Securities and Commodities Authority)
- The federal UAE regulator. Oversees "onshore" financial activities outside the free zones.
- Zakat
- Obligatory charitable giving in Islam, generally 2.5% of accumulated wealth annually.
